Citizen Action and a Free Press

As our founders acknowledged, there is no democracy possible without a free press.  Today there are scores of groups working for positive change and a growing number that are sources of independent information.   The ones that have been listed as recommended links on this website are ones that:

  • promote non-partisan citizen involvement in making sure government honors the Constitution and the Bill of Rights and performs its duty to serve in the interests of the people
  • provide non-partisan, unbiased, non-corporate-owned news and information.

Links have carefully been selected based on these two considerations and whose focus is on imparting diverse, objective information and real thoughts of regular people rather than sites concerned with pursuing a specific political or social agenda, regardless of how salutary it might be.

Verdant Voice subscribes to the adage that the Pen is indeed mightier than the Sword and that the free expression of thoughts among citizens is not only an inalienable fundamental human right but essential to one’s becoming empowered and free to decide what s/he feels is important or true.  We respect each person’s right to pursue citizen action as s/he sees fit and the links are suggested in order to provide access to information uncorrupted by corporate influence and to empower citizens to take action according to his or her own conscience.

  1. Woah! I’m really enjoying the template/theme of this blog. It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s very difficult to get that “perfect balance” between user friendliness and visual appeal. I must say you have done a awesome job with this. Also, the blog loads super quick for me on Opera. Exceptional Blog!
